Good morning! Dear teachers and friends, we warmly welcome you to the quiz competition! Please give a round of applause to the competitors, Vihangi, Nethula, Shakthi and Rizvin.

Let me introduce today’s quiz. It has 2 rounds. Both rounds will be on general knowledge.

In the first round, an image will be displayed on the screen. You will be asked two questions based on it. You will score 05 points for each correct answer.

In the second round, you’ll have to talk about a topic. Your topic will be given according to the number you select. You’ll be given five minutes to prepare for your speech and you can earn a maximum of 20 points for your speech.

The following were the images shown in the first round. Match the types of houses with the names shown below.

 Castle 
 (A large building that is fortified and contains many defences; in previous ages often inhabited by a nobleman or king) 

 Flats 
A flat is a set of rooms for living in, usually on one floor and part of a larger building. A flat usually includes a kitchen and bathroom.

 Mansion 
A large house or building, usually built for the wealthy.

 Igloo 
A dome-shaped Inuit shelter, constructed of blocks cut from snow.

 Houseboat 

A vessel, such as a barge, used as a dwelling

Thatched house 
A house with a roof covering of straw, reeds, palm leaves, or a similar material.

 Treehouse
A house, or similar structure within a tree, or several trees, built with light materials; wood, bamboo or aluminum are preferred construction materials.

 Mud houses 
A simple house build primarily of mud.

 Teepee 
A cone-shaped tent traditionally used by many native peoples of the Great Plains of North America

 Caravan/ trailer 
A caravan is a vehicle without an engine that can be pulled by a car or van. It contains beds and cooking equipment so that people can live or spend their holidays in it.

 Town houses

A house in a town or city, usually a comfortable, expensive one in a fashionable area.
